Biography: With an English father and a Dutch mother, I have always lived with one foot in the international community of The Hague, whilst the other stood in my local Dutch neighbourhood.
Name: Bryan Bong
Biography: Bryan Bong was an editor and creative consultant for various academic and literary journals before joining The Underground. Originally from the United States, he has lived in the United Kingdom, Germany, and Hungary before moving to the Netherlands with his Dutch wife.
Biography: Graduate of law and English, with an interest in international law and literature. Greatly enjoys arts, music, technology. Originally from Romania, moved to The Hague after four years in Paris and is looking forward to learning and professional opportunities.
Occupation: trainee content editor/proofreader/writer aspiring to learn the editorial trade.
I am The Underground because: I fell in love with The Hague – it feels like home, like a breath of fresh air. I hope through my work at The Underground I can help other people feel more welcome too, and connect them to the vibrant core of this great city.
Biography: Nataly Parson is a Communication Specialist with more than 10 years experience in different industries such as finance (Citigroup, Deutsche Bank), automotives (BMW) and wine & spirit (Davidoff, Riedel).
Nataly is Russian, but for the last 3 years has been living in The Hague with her American husband and Dutch-French Chocolate Labrador. “Enjoy the moment!” is Nataly’s daily motto and along with her collaboration with The Underground, she also enjoys travelling, scuba diving and rock climbing.
Biography: With Spanish blood and traveler soul, this dream believer has settled down in The Hague for love. She enjoys looking for the smaller things in life and her personal motto is ‘Life gives you a smile when you least expect it.’
Occupation: Communications specialist and journalist looking for new professional challenges in organisational communications.
I am The Underground because: I love being updated with all what happens in The Hague. It is great to have the opportunity to dig deeply into local curiosities and share them with a whole community.
Biography: Although she is crazy for drops, a great beer enthusiast, knows how to cook stampot, has admiration for Herman Brood, and absolutely LOVES Barcelona; Marta is not Dutch. After living more than five years in Groningen, this all-round creative specialist in communication just moved to The Hague looking for new professional challenges.
Already impressed by the Spui architecture and not yet used to cycling on the tram rail; she is at the moment studying for the official Dutch language certificate (NT2). She also keeps herself busy by collaborating with some parallel projects. The Underground is the latest in her list!
Name: Wicked Wendy
Biography: Wicked Wendy volunteers as a consultant and also has a column ‘Challenge Wicked Wendy’ in The Underground. Wicked Wendy calls herself an ‘Engelse Hagenaar’ as she has spent most of her adult life in The Hague and totally immersed herself in the Dutch way of life. Having three children and having worked for various cultural institutions has allowed her to build up a comprehensive network throughout The Hague community, which she enjoys putting to good use for The Underground.
